a little irony

I find it interesting that the first photo appears to be with the YP's sharing alcoholic beverages. I wonder if that is a point of contention for all YP groups.

Great Article, I think?

Rebecca Ryan has been brought in once, I know of 3 discussion groups and there has to be a dozen or so surveys out there. This is Wichita I am talking about. I am all about gathering data and talking about it to a point, but when do you start doing, $50,000 for a study?!? Man I guess my brain just says what can we actually, literally do? When can we start changing instead of studying the problem, when do we make a leap and say, we need to do this.... and "Hey can we have $50,000 to actually do this, not to study it any further?? Don't twist my comment to be anything negative about YP Reno County. I just hope we are not around for several years and still trying to figure out the problem, I hope we stay on the path we are on and are looking back at all the successful projects we have thrown our weight behind.

Picture worth 1000 words

I think the pictures is going to come off wrong, but it symbolizes everything that YP is about. We want to live in a place that we can kick back and have fun. Relax with friends and enjoy the community that we live in. Just because they are having a drink and laughing doesn't mean they represent a group of alcoholics. That picture represents a cultural change. What city leaders need to realize is the group in that picture represents the future of communities. People that want to live in a city need to have something that attracts them other than the job. The people that view that picture as a bad thing are the people that are complaining about jobs moving to other cities, malls growing empty, and downtowns being useless. If you don't change, then you get left behind, and Hutchinson is left behind because of that negative thinking towards what that pictures represents. YP is gathering the info, but it's up to us to follow up with it. As Cody said, we don't need to spend several years to figure out the problem. As long as we have the support of our members, it shouldn't take that long!

Another "article" in the Eagle

This is a business perspective article in today's Wichita Eagle written by the director of Wichita's YP group. It's mostly about their survey, but this is a good amout of media coverage in a few days. http://www.kansas.com/business/perspectives/story/389926.html
