On Thursday, November 14, YPers gathered at Dillon Nature Center for our first Lunch ‘N Learn on “green” topics. Thanks to Dillon Nature Center for the use of their facility as well as Don Rogers from Stutzman Refuse and Mary Clark from the Nature Center for sharing their knowledge and answering our members’ questions! Click on the following links for some downloadable fast facts we promised you about recycling in Hutchinson, some Kansas-specific statistics AND the 2008 Hutchinson recycling schedule! Read now to learn something new about this hot topic.

Feel free to add your comments about recycling, what's working for you (or what's not), tips for a green lifestyle, etc.  The best way to learn is from each other...I encourage your comments!

Making a difference!!!

For those of you that couldn't make it to the Lunch & Learn, I just want to say that in my opinion, this is what YP of Reno County is all about... There were 25 of "us" that had a chance to meet at a great spot in Hutchinson talking about a very worthwhile cause and bringing up issues to people that have the ability to do something about it. We have such an oppurtunity to help make Reno County the best place to live and I truly feel events like the one today are how we will make that happen. THANK YOU TO ALL THAT ATTENDED! I challenge the rest of you to keep tuned to the website to see other ways you can get involved!

Good to Know

I really am a recycling nerd, I admit it freely. I was very excited to learn Stutzman is now accepting numbers 3 & 4 plastic. If you know what I'm talking about, you are certainly a recycle nerd as well. If you don't know - check out the links at www.hutchgov.com on recycling so you can join the club:) Thanks to everyone who attended the first Lunch & Learn.

Getting organized!

I found that getting organized makes recycling easier....I bought these two large tubs at Lowes that stack up on each other and open up like a dog food bins (if that makes sense). I put my paper & cardboard in one and all other recyclable in another. Then every two weeks we blue bag the contents and put it on the curb. Voilà!
